Sangyan means Cognition. Simply put, The Sangyan is an endeavour to take cognizance and document stories and issues, especially of subjects and perspectives requiring better attention and documentation from legal, political, environmental, social, economic, cultural, indigenous, and civilizational perspectives and vantage points.
The core principle of The Sangyan is Dharma [The Right Thing To Do - A person’s moral and social obligations both as an individual and also as a member of society], Nyaya [outcome-oriented justice], and Niti [concept of rule-based law]. The motto [ध्येयवाक्य] of The Sangyan is "कालाति क्रमात् काल एव फलम पिबति" [when the right thing is not done at the right time then the time itself destroys the essence]. The Sangyan firmly believes in 'Panch Rna' and 'Lifestyle For Environment'.
Some initiatives under The Sangyan are Project Drishtikon [research articles, blogs, factsheets, etc.], Ulgulan Talks! [postcards, interviews and case studies], #KnowYourConcepts [Lexicon Series], Vatavaran Vaad [endeavour for dialogue, debate and discussion around the Environment, Climate Change, Weather, Pollution, Biodiversity Loss, and other related issues, to trigger, catalyze, and nudge sustainable change towards environmental justice and nyāya, by way of taking cognizance and disseminating information and creating awareness], #BoloTohJaane Initiative [Audi Alteram Partem - #HaveYourSay Series to break the Spiral of Silence], Project Drishtant [Best Practices], and much more.
