First Check, a unique health fact-checking initiative by DataLEADS, brings together doctors, data scientists, researchers, technologists & journalists from across the globe to strengthen the fight against health misinformation. Currently, First Check has 53 members from 24 countries who have volunteered to help address this global public health challenge.
A verified signatory of the International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN), the initiative gets diverse professionals on a common platform to tackle the rising tide of health misinformation, particularly on social media. During the onslaught on Covid-related misinformation, First Check was at the forefront debunking and prebunking false claims regarding the efficacy of vaccines, conspiracy theories about the pandemic, and more.
Over the last four years, First Check has been actively creating collaborations to unite the medical community with the public and facilitating easy access to accurate medical information.
