SPACE: The Infinite Ascent
Born on the vast farmland of Wedza, Zimbabwe, in a humble hut under the watchful eyes of ancestors, SPACE’s journey began long before the first note was played. As the firstborn son of the Svubure family, part of the revered Saimaita clan (Tembo-Shumba), his roots run deep into the soil of tradition, strength, and legacy.
His odyssey took a new course when his family moved to South Africa, settling first in Limpopo and later in Mpumalanga, where Evander became the backdrop to his evolution. In this small but inspiring town (2280), SPACE found not only a home but also the foundation for his artistry.
The spark was lit in grade 9 at Evander High School, where he immersed himself in music through his close circle. Watching his longtime friend Ellipses take his first steps into rap, SPACE played a pivotal role—supporting, marketing, and even experimenting with beat-making on Groove Pads. Another close friend, Priddy Thug, joined in, and soon their sessions became the nucleus of something greater. They formed EPS Records, a symbol of their hunger to create, innovate, and take control of their destiny.
Despite his deepening love for music, confidence in his own voice took time. In grade 10, a shift occurred—weed unlocked a creative fearlessness, but a single misstep with a laced joint sent him spiraling into an unexpected detour: rehab. Yet, what seemed like a setback became the defining transformation of his life.
In a facility in Piet Retief—the same town that birthed South African rap icon K.O.—SPACE was stripped of distractions, free from external expectations, and introduced to the art of self-discovery. Meditation became a sanctuary, social walls crumbled, and for the first time, he poured his soul into lyrics. In the confines of that rehab, he found his true calling. His first official verse emerged on a track called “Air”, aligning with his birth element as a Libra born on October 1, 2005. That notebook—filled with raw, unfiltered emotion—became a testament to his awakening.....
