SAIMUN is short for Sub Saharan Africa International Model United Nations Association, a debate conference that takes place annually.
We have 3 Conferences for 2025:
1. April 2025 Spring Conference in Cape Town, South Africa 🇿🇦 - 17th to 24th 2025
2. June/July 2025 Winter Conference at the United Nations Office in Nairobi, Kenya.
3. August 2025 Summer Conference in Johannesburg, South Africa 🇿🇦 - 19th to 26th 2025.
Model United Nations (SAIMUN) is a simulation of the United Nations in which high school students from around the world participate, experiencing the challenges of international negotiation and cooperation and assume the perspective of countries from around the world and debate about international issues in a format inspired by the United Nations.
In the near future, it is today’s youth who will be running our national governments and the United Nations. They will be the ones who are tasked with addressing these problems and enacting creative solutions that were missed by our predecessors. Here at SAIMUN, we want to challenge the students to think about these problems now: to prudently and positively act upon the responsibilities that come with the role of an international leader, to imagine a better world, and work with others to achieve it.
