Bengaluru-based software as a service (SaaS) startup Lorry Business to Business (LOBB) is empowering the logistics industry in India by enabling transporters and truckers to connect, discover, and transact freight in a smooth manner. Its unique ML model connects demand aggregators with supply - based on proximity, vehicle type, route preferences, and complex supply-demand market pricing.
Founded by Jayaram Raju and Venu Kondur in 2015, LOBB has four key offerings that address the pain points - and enhance efficiency - in the logistics value chain. LOBB Sourcing Platform enables logistics owners to source trucks faster; LOBB Digital helps logistics companies and fleet owners manage their day-to-day activity, reconcile invoices, and analyze reports on the cloud; LOBB QuickPay helps to control complete en-route expenses from diesel and toll to driver salary; and LOBB Truck helps fleet owners to find loads faster, halt less, and earn more.
“For any logistics operation, there are often different parties involved. Keeping everybody in the loop used to be a Herculean task,” says Venu. “But today, with everyone using WhatsApp, all you need to do is create a group… From sharing proof of delivery, to tracking location, to business acknowledgement, to keeping everyone in loop, everything happens on WhatsApp.”
He says that the WhatsApp Business app is one of the best messaging systems to communicate business decisions. “Our backend team constantly uses WhatsApp to resolve a lot of operational issues on the ground.”
Touching an annual revenue of INR 36 Crore (approximately USD 5 million) in less than four years, today 80 percent of its business comes through referrals.
“Transformation in logistics is just beginning with technology adoption in India,” says Venu. “At LOBB, we are positive and excited about the future that is unfolding.”
