Daniel Cano has been driving customers to memorable destinations across Mexico for as long as he can remember.
“I enjoy the opportunity to meet many people and to get to know so many places across my beautiful country,” he says.
Daniel started out as a taxi driver at Benito Juárez International Airport in Mexico City and launched Setracano, his own transportation company, in 1998.
He runs a lean business and works hard to keep his overhead low. Any extra cash, says Daniel, is invested in new additions to his fleet. To keep operational costs steady and strengthen coordination between his office staff, a network of 10 drivers and 25 travel agencies that help bring him business, Daniel began using the WhatsApp Business app in February 2018.
“WhatsApp Business has allowed me to provide much better attention to my clients; 80 percent of them contact me via the app,” says Daniel, adding that the app has helped boost Setracano’s revenue by 15 percent.
“The labels help me maintain greater control of my service, including organizing pending contracts, invoices and programmed services,” says Daniel, and the WhatsApp Business app’s away messages feature helps him connect with customers around the clock. “Film production teams and tourists do not contemplate work hours,” he says. “The away messages let them know that I am at their service and they will be attended to but that they contacted me outside my work hours.”
And at their service he is.
“I ask him for price quotes through WhatsApp because it is the fastest way to receive them,” says customer Jesús Hernández. “It’s great because when I make the request, I get an automatic response with information of Daniel’s availability and services.”
For Daniel, the WhatsApp Business app has made Setracano more agile. He plans on opening an office more than 800 miles away in Merida and wants to add five more vans to his fleet over the next five years. There are more scenic routes to explore after all.
